Fall Sketchbook Review

I didn’t manage to fit in my regular writing session last night because there were a thousand niggly little things that needed to be done.

Forms to be signed for field trips, long ignored emails waiting to be answered, appointments that desperately needed to be made before one of us turns blind/loses all our teeth/gets the flu, invitations to be sent out for this weekend. So I hunkered down, hauled in all of the pesky minutiae of my life and sorted them out (for now at least).

This has left my mind feeling lemony fresh on this loveliest of all days – Friday. Unfortunately, in accordance with the pleasure/pain rule ordained by our universe, that leaves me with exactly twenty whole minutes to write and send this post to you right now. So I’ve decided to say less, and show more. I have recently been combatting my bad weather blues by drawing a lot more in my previously neglected sketchbook, and it has been a very uplifting experience. I wish I could just spend all of my time drawing and painting. Sigh. I’m a bit rusty, but it feels good to get back into a daily practice. Rather like getting back to the gym after a long period of cake and sofa.

Here are some pictures of what I have drawn this week, and a few from some earlier drawing spurts. I plan to keep going through Autumn and Winter, and maybe turn a few of these into paintings. Eeeek!! Have a lovely weekend!
