A Blog About Not Blogging

It has been a looooooong time since I last blogged.
Blogging is like exercising, once you get out of a pattern it is really difficult to get back into it. Somehow, something always comes up that needs to get done first. Laundry, errands, phone calls, the third season of Lillehammer on Netflix…hmm.

I read somewhere that, in order to be a successful blogger, you need to write a post almost everyday. Consistency seems to be an important factor here, and I clearly don’t have it, I’m not sure if I will ever have it. I am consistent in many other areas of my life. I work out regularly, meet all my deadlines, and take my kids to their appointments on time, but blogging always tends to fall by the wayside.

The problem is, I just can’t help thinking of my blog as an add-on to my actual work. Sort of like sprinkles on a cake – nice, but not always necessary. People tell me it is an important marketing tool for my company, but often I just think of it as a way to clear my head.

Sometimes, I just want to focus on actually creating things with my hands, and my artwork takes over. Sometimes, life just gets too busy to stop and think, or write. Sometimes, I just don’t feel like saying anything.  In this case, all three of those things happened at the same time, and the blog got lonely for a very long time.
Poor blog.

Anyway, after  couple of months of crazy working and partying – tenth wedding anniversary, husband’s 40th birthday, parents visiting, sick kids, three fairs, countless homework crises, and a stint as a substitute teacher – my head and house need some serious cleaning. That’s good news for the blog – my system for organizing thoughts. So, in the words of Frank Costanza “I’m back baby!!” ….well, for now.  Let’s start with a list shall we?

Things Noctiluna will be doing next:

1. Running an Art birthday party next Saturday!!

2. Designing a new t-shirt collection for Spring/Summer 2015

3. Photo shoot for the new collection – details to follow.

4. Substitute teaching at my son’s preschool (buckle up, Vienna parents!)

5. Wednesday Night Art Classes – yes, they are still happening. Right now we are focusing on printmaking.

6. Planning for a possible Spring break camp.

Now that’s sorted, meet you at the next blog. 😉
